A large stock of psychotropic drugs confiscated in Karbi-Anglong


In a major crackdown on the threat of drugs, Assam Police have recovered a large stockpile of mind-altering substances from Balijan Khan Basti below Khatkhati Police Station area in Karbi-Anglong.

Acting on a denunciation, the security forces launched a Naka-Checking along the regions concerned and recovered 17 cartons of chlorpheniramine maleate and codeine phosphate syrup, namely “Jetcoff” (total 16 cartons and each carton containing 120 bottles x 100ml = 1920 bottles and another bulk cartoon containing a total of 80 bottles x 100ml = Grand total 2000 bottles); informed the Karbi Anglong police.

According ANI report, the NAKA check was done based on a denunciation of Sub Inspector Raju Dowarah along with Sub Inspector Atikur Rahman, Sub Inspector (P) Swmdwn Swargiary, Assistant Sub Inspector Arun Nath.

Official sources informed that the vehicle came from Dimapur side. His driver and his assistant took advantage of the woods to flee the scene.

In the meantime, the psychotropic substances, as well as the vehicle and a mobile phone were confiscated under the physical supervision of the sub-divisional police (SDPO) Bokajan. Efforts are underway to apprehend the perpetrators.
